Why does the bride buy her wedding dress and spend hundreds for alterations? So she looks her best for her wedding day, of course. The next question is, why order the men's tuxedos blindly with no adjustments and tailoring? Somehow brides and grooms are under the pretense that the tuxedo or suit will magically fit as long as they get measured by who knows who. The myth is guys are easy, can just wear whatever, and the attire will look good. Next time you go out, check out the guy's attire. Are you impressed with the way guys are dressed? Some companies lure brides with the promise of getting advanced delivery; others offer delivery to your home. Then they say if something does not fit, the company will send a replacement. What they should announce ahead of time is:
1) Up to 2 weeks in advance, but most receive their attire one week in advance.
2) Clothing labels may be mislabeled, clothes fit differently on every body shape, and we only carry one fit.
3) If you have to contact the company, it has to be by email; a response will take up to 48 hours.
4) Once they respond back; you must return any items that do not fit before they send a replacement.
5) If the replacement still does not fit, you are out of luck and have to rent elsewhere.
6) If you are particular about how clothing fits appropriately, do not rent here.
Most people do not know proper clothes etiquette and think everything fits well until someone shows up in a professionally tailored suit or tuxedo. If it is one person at the wedding party, your pictures will look horrible since the groomsman looks much better dressed than the groom.
Two options, buy the wedding attire for the guys or search out a rental place with good reviews.
Where do you find rental shops that make you look dapper? Google it. The big chains advertise and get first listings, so drop down to the little guys. They are in business for a reason. Most of them care about the way you look. The commission-based salespeople at the national chains are looking for a big paycheck, not to fit the groom to look his best. Look for a bunch of good reviews. No reviews mean the place had the bad ones eliminated or they are inexperienced, just starting in business.
What to look for in a rental shop. Knowledge, experience, a place that carries current styles, honesty, friendliness, and an ear (someone who listens to you about what you want and expect). Do they explain the five different fits clothing is made, and each style fits differently? A football player or bodybuilder does not look good in a slim fit, so what are the options? If you are lucky enough to find a rental shop that will tailor your rental, that is your best option. That way, at the pick-up time, the customer does not leave until everything fits perfectly.
